The roots of the Bizsan Rug Gallery trace back to 1998, born from a vision to bring authentic, hand-knotted rugs to the Hungarian market. Throughout history, Hungary has stood as a magnificent cultural crossroad, influenced by both Eastern and Western traditions, with Budapest thriving at its heart.
The enduring legacy of this cultural exchange remains vividly alive today—most notably preserved at the Museum of Applied Arts in Budapest, which boasts a world-renowned collection of rare Anatolian and Ottoman Turkish carpets dating from the 15th to the 19th centuries.
At Bizsan, we honor this deep-seated cultural memory. We recognize that our clients do not simply view a rug as decor, but deeply understand and appreciate its profound artistic value, heritage, and timeless craftsmanship. Meet the Founder
Babak Ebrahimzadeh
Founder & Curator
Bizsan's founder, Babak Ebrahimzadeh, established the gallery with a singular vision: to bring timeless, hand-knotted rugs to the Hungarian market. Having studied Architectural Engineering at the Technical University of Budapest, he quickly recognized a profound connection between the ancient motifs found in both classical and modern architecture and the intricate patterns mirrored in handmade rugs.
These historic designs, rooted in ancient Persian civilization, have influenced textile and rug-knotting movements for over 2,500 years, tracing back to the Achaemenian Empire. By curating these masterpieces, Babak aims to ensure this rich cultural heritage and ancient craftsmanship continue to thrive across the past, present, and future.
A recognized authority in the field, Babak shares his deep knowledge as an annual lecturer at V-Pearl – The Academy of Experts. Bringing together a masterful understanding of architectural proportion, color harmony, and the invaluable heritage of these timeless pieces, he personally assists clients in discovering their own unique, hand-knotted masterpiece.
